Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy - Tea for Tots
PITTSBURGH (June 10, 2008) - The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy celebrated the first PNC Children's Carousel Tea, displaying the grand PNC Carousel at Schenley Plaza on Saturday, May 31, 2008. The event began at 11 a.m. all proceeds are to benefit the work of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
The Tea Party Luncheon featured tea sandwiches, cookies, lemonade and, of course, tea for all members of the family. Girls and boys came out wearing their most festive party attire and their favorite hat.
The event featured exciting performances for all ages including Randy Werrin, the stilts man, the Pittsburgh Puppet Works' performance of "Mega Mayhem," and the Zany Umbrella Circus production of "Stories of the Seasons." Also offered were free rides on the PNC Carousel, live music by Duke Puddintown and specialty photos by Catch the Moment.
This spirited event will continue a year of celebration in our region under the banner of the 250th anniversary, and will showcase on of the many unique attraction and public spaces that contribute to Pittsburgh's recognition as "America's Most Livable City."
Bringing together the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and PNC reinforces once again their shared commitment to youth in our communities. With attention to the environment and wellness at an all-time high, these organizations are working together to provide children with safe, green spaces to learn, play and exercise. In its 11-year history, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy has given many neglected urban spaces new life as distinctive family attractions. Such additions as the PNC Carousel emphasize the importance of giving families a reason to visit and share in the experience of our rejuvenated parks, which is a part of the Conservancy's mission statement. Improving, restoring and revitalizing the four City parks, Frick, Schenley, Highland, and Riverview, will enable the parks to have an excellent integrated program for the present and future enjoyment of the community.
